Adobe Flash 9 Public Alpha
November 29th, 2006
The all new Flash 9 authoring tool from Adobe will be shipped in 2007 but they already released a public alpha version. It’s a very early version and the only new features exposed in the very early alpha preview are related to ActionScript 3.0 which was first released with the Flash Player 9. These include the new ActionScript 3.0 compiler, the new ‘document class’ function which allows designers to assign a class to the main timeline, and the publish target for Flash Player 9. There will be other new features in this next release, also ones for ActionScript development but these are not made publicly available at the moment.

This alpha release is the only planned preview release before the final release will be launched and shipped. There isn’t a preview version planned for Intel-based Macintosh computers. Mac users will have to wait until the final version is launched. Windows users can download this alpha release here (adobe ID required)
