Flex book component (alpha)
June 7th, 2007
Sitting first row (next to Ruben), I have watched my fellow trainee Ruben Swieringa working on his pageflip book in Flex for the last few months now. And I must say that it’s already the best pageflip book out there, as far as I know. It includes features as pageflipping, hardback option for every page, tearing-a-page-out functionality, automatic flipping, support for transparent pages and a lot more. Go check it out by clicking on the preview-image below. Read more overhere…
Very impressive Ruben! Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the kudos man, I will
Here is his stolen code:

It’s ashame he cannot give credit to Ely from Adobe.
@Frances,
I don’t know why you keep on wining about stealing code… I already explained on Rubens blog that I watched (i’m sitting next to him every single day) him build it from scratch. He might be inspired by Ely, which is a great developer, and Ely got inspired (as quoted on his blog) by this post: http://www.iparigrafika.hu/pageflip/. Also check out the pageflip on http://labs.flexcoders.nl and the one on http://www.bytearray.org. They just don’t function as good as Rubens newly build-from-the-ground version so give him the credits he deserves!
So why doesn’t he credit anyone? This claim about building it from ground up is BS. You mean to tell me he did all the Math etc for this from ground up? The link below is the exact same book:

Frances,
I can asure you that he wrote it from the ground up. He asked me to test it quite often and I saw him doing all of the math, which went wrong quite often but eventually him got it right. I agree with you he could link to inspiring people but i guess thats up to him.
Here is the problem I have. Ely says it straight out that he verted it from flash version to flex. He gives credit where credit is do and let everybody know where it came from. He turned it into a flex piece and supplied everyone with the code. Now Ruben is going to get that and make a few adjustments and claim that it is his own. I mean he says that he built it from ground up? Come on man
How would you feel if someone swiped the code you supplied everybody with and then made this grand release without giving credit? This is bad for all of us because I guarantee people will stop sharing their code if guys like Ruben out there pull the piracy act and claim it for there own. Think about it.
Just wait until Ruben puts up the code to make any further false accusations man. And start using your real name instead using different names. Still don’t see the reason why I removed the comments before?
Funny I’m seeing the same comments posted under varying names all over the place. C’mon Ely, we know it’s you really … trying to get your website hits up eh?
