Adobe Live 2007, here I come!

Tomorrow, I’m going to Adobe Live 2007, the Dutch edition. It’s held in the RAI in Amsterdam and I’m looking forward to going, together with my fellow trainees from , Ruben Swieringa and Niels Bruin. Some interesting things to see I think. Especially the Flex 3 sneak preview by Waldo Smeets. But also ActionScript 3.0 with Joey Lott, Apollo for Developers with Mike Downey and a lot of new CS3 software talk will be quite interesting to see. I have created my own version of the program so I know where to be at what point in time to see the most interesting things in my humble opinion. This is what I came up with:

New syntax highlighter

I found a new syntax highlighter which seems to work fine with a lot of programming languages including Actionscript, PHP, XML (or MXML), etc. It’s called IG Syntax Hiliter. Give it a try if you want to publish some of your code!

AS 3.0 & MXML Syntax Highlighting in WordPress?

I am still searching for a good syntax highlighter for WordPress. I’m currently using Quick Code in combination with the Preserve Code Formatting plugin but these don’t work quite as good as I want to. I’m looking for a highlighter with color-code support, tabbing of code and it would be really cool if it would recognize AS 3.0 and MXML. So if anyone of you guys have any suggestions, please let me know!

Blog update

So it has been a while! Lots of things going on! I updated my blog to WordPress 2.1 last week. The updating process went smoothly but afterwards my skin was all messed up. So I had to update the skin as well. After that I started changing all the little things as I did before the update. I even made some improvements in the css which I personally like very much. I only have to find some little tweaks for some IE skin differences. All my plugins seem to work great with WordPress 2.1. I also started a new temporary weblog on my schoolwebspace to keep my teachers informed with my adventures and progress during my internship @ theFactor.e. It can be found here (it’s in Dutch, since its only purpose is for my teachers to keep track of my progress).

Last night I finished the updating and translation of my installation guide for Apache, MySQL, PHP and Ruby On Rails. There were some slight errors in the previous version which have now been corrected (thnx for the comments). And it’s available in English now. Adobe releases Photoshop CS3 BETA via Adobe Labs

Last week, Photoshopuser.com posted a review of the new Photoshop CS3 which is now available for download from the Adobe Labs website.As with every new release, this one comes with a lot of cool new features. One of the major differences seems to be the user interface. This new version is probably the most customizable interface of Photoshop yet.Users who get scared by this idea, don’t worry. You can switch back to the ‘old’ Photoshop layout with one click on a button, but the new interface is certainly worth a try and once you will get used to it you probably don’t want to change back to the ‘old’ layout. Installationguide for Apache, MySQL, PHP and RoR

This morning I finished the new and improved version of my installation guide for Apache, MySQL, PHP, PHPMyAdmin and Ruby On Rails. I’ve put it online here (PDF). I hope it will be of some help to you. It’s based on a Windows environment and for now it’s available in Dutch. I will try to translate it to English soon. Keep checking my blog for updates. And feel free to leave a comment if you discovered an error in the guide or have a suggestion.

Apache On Rails, Ruby Riding The Feather

With a little help of Simon Paul from my class I got Ruby On Rails working as a module within my Apache setup. Finally RoR starts automatically and I’m no longer having to fight with the WEBrick server. With 2 little files, a Microsoft C++ installer and 1 line of code in the httpd.conf file, it works! The files and installation doc can be downloaded from here.
